Author Conrade C. Hinds

Conrade C. Hinds, author of Made In Ohio, will share stories of inventions such as the Etch-A-Sketch and products like Quaker Oats that came from Ohio.

Conrade C. Hinds, author of Made In Ohio, will share stories of inventions such as the Etch-A-Sketch and products like Quaker Oats that came from Ohio. Hinds worked as an architect, and has lived in Central Ohio for 46 years. He's a board member of the Columbus Landmarks Foundation, and retired from the City of Columbus, where he worked as a Project Manager at the Columbus Dublin Road Water Plant. He is a storyteller who focuses on forgotten history.

Conrade C. Hinds is originally from Nashville, Tenn. and a graduate of Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana where he studied architecture and industrial technology. He has lived in Central Ohio for 42-plus years and is a registered architect licensed in Ohio and New York. He retired as a Facilities Project Manager with the City of Columbus Department of Public Utilities. He also served as an adjunct faculty member in the Engineering Dept. at Columbus State Community College for 28 years.

As a licensed Auctioneer, he likes to give back to the community by donating his services to a variety of charitable fund raising events such as Operation Feed. Conrade and his wife Janet have four adult children and 4 grandchildren and enjoy visiting historic sites in America and Europe.

Conrade is the author of the books Made in Ohio: A History of Buckeye Invention & Ingenuity, Lost Circuses of Ohio, Columbus and the Great Flood of 1913: The Disaster that Reshaped the Ohio Valley, and The Great Columbus Experiment of 1908: Waterworks that Changed the World. As an author he enjoys researching and writing about forgotten history.
