Dear Bexley Public Library Supporter,

For over a century, Bexley Public Library has loved serving and supporting this wonderful community, but today we are reaching out because we need your help!

The Ohio House of Representatives is considering a proposed state budget that, if passed, will eliminate the Public Library Fund (PLF), the source of nearly half of Bexley Public Library’s funding.

In its place, they are proposing a $100 million cut in library funding compared to the Governor’s original budget proposal. In 2024, Ohio’s libraries experienced a $27 million  shortfall, so the House's additional cut would have a devastating impact on:

  • Access to books, movies, newspapers, and magazines
  • Storytimes and other children's literacy programs
  • Legal notarizations and technology support
  • Computer and Wi-Fi access for those who need it most
  • Resume building and job search assistance
  • Online research, skills training, and educational resources

We need your help to protect Ohio’s libraries and the millions of people they serve.

It only takes a moment to tell Ohio’s leaders how you use the library and to restore the PLF to 1.75% of the General Revenue Fund. Please reach out TODAY to Speaker Matt Huffman at rep78@ohiohouse.gov or 614-466-6344 and State Representative, Dontavius Jarrells (District 1) at rep01@ohiohouse.gov.

By taking action before April 9th you can help protect the future of Bexley Public Library and all the libraries that make our state a better place to live, learn, and grow.
