On September 3, as part of the Bexley Community Author Series, acclaimed author Percival Everett will be in conversation with Scott Woods. Known for his sharp insight and engaging style, Woods will guide an illuminating discussion that delves into Everett’s celebrated body of work, offering the audience a rare opportunity to hear from one of today’s most important literary voices in a lively, thought-provoking exchange.


Scott Woods

Scott Woods is a Columbus-based poet, writer, and event producer, and the author of Black Night is FallingUrban Contemporary History MonthWe Over Here Now, and Prince and Little Weird Black Boy Gods. He is also the founder and director of Streetlight Guild, a performing arts organization dedicated to showcasing Columbus-based, original, and historically excluded voices across artistic disciplines.

Percival Everett

Percival Everett is one of today’s most influential literary voices, known for his genre-defying works that explore race, identity, and the human condition. His latest novel, James—a powerful reimagining of Jim from The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn—earned him the 2024 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. Everett is also a recipient of the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award and the PEN/Faulkner Award, among many other honors.
